Day 1: Antigua to Flores

Here you will be able to stretch your legs, grab a drink, and use the restroom before another three hour ride to Río Dulce. We will stop for lunch at our favorite restaurant on the shore of the most beautiful river in Guatemala- Rio Dulce. Here you will enjoy a cold drink and a delicious lunch before the last leg of the days journey. A final three hour drive will land us in Flores, a tiny colonial town on the Lake of Petén Itzá, complete with red-roofed buildings, a historical church and picturesque cobblestone streets. We will arrive in Flores around 6:00pm which leaves us plenty of time to watch the sunset over the lake and enjoy dinner at the best restaurant in town.
Day 2: Tour of Tikal National Park
You will have breakfast on the terrace of your hotel at 7:00am overlooking the lake. At 8:00am we will depart for the jungle to explore Tikal National Park. We will arrive around 9:00am and meet your private guide. Inside the park you will encounter all different kinds of wild life like spider monkeys, howler monkeys, orange breasted falcons, parrots, toucans and jaguars, just to name a few. Your private guide will help you discover all of the major points of interest in Tikal: Complex Q, The Great Plaza, Temples I, II, III, IV, V, VI, Central Acropolis, The Window Palace and Lost World. After the tour of Tikal we will have lunch in El Remate, a small village where you can shop for unique wooden handicrafts. After lunch we will head back to Rio Dulce to spend the night. In the evening we will take a boat to a restaurant on the river for dinner where they serve Guatemalan, Mexican and Australian food.
Day 3: Boat tour of Rio Dulce
We will begin our day with a traditional breakfast amidst the mangroves of Río Dulce. At 8:00am we will board our private boat en route to Castillo San Felipe, an ancient castle that served as a fortress during the pirate activity of the seventeenth Century. After our time at this impressive castle, we will continue our trip by boat to the Island of Birds, a tiny island where the Cormoran lives. After a few photos, we will head to the hot springs where you will relax in hot water flowing out of the banks of Rio Dulce. We will continue our boat journey to Siete Altares on the Caribbean side of Guatemala where you will hike along seven nature made pools and see the turquoise water that flows from the mountains to fill each pool. After a swim in the pools and a few leaps from the waterfall, we will board the boat to go Livingston where we will experience the true Garifuna culture. Enjoy coconut water from a fresh coco, get your hair braided by a local, or try the traditional plate of the region "Tapado"-a seafood soup made with coconut milk and plantains. Take a walk and explore the town before heading back to Río Dulce and returning to Antigua. Our arrival in Antigua will be around 9:00pm.
